It is because when any wall or building is not protected for the moisture content, then dampness is caused in it as a result of rising of water through the pores. The water keeps on rising till it reaches the maximum height or till the point where there is no means of evaporation.

Due to rising of water into the walls triggered by the phenomenon of rising damp, layers of white coloured powdered salt may also be found the walls. This problem is further worsened during rainy season or down pour. It is due to increase in the level of ground water due to which there is an increase in the quantity of water rising through capillaries. So it becomes all the more important to make arrangements to deal with the problem of rising damp. Let us now see how it can be done. There are multiple options to get your house covered for the down pour.

Treatment through injection mortar or creams- It is an apt treatment for places which have mortar beds and wreckage or where there is a large sized bed link. In this process, the injection creams or solutions are injected into the concerned places under low pressure. These creams are injected into the mortar beds or the wreckage by the rising damp. The cream gets crystallized in the mortar so as to produce water proof obstruction for the rising damp. This treatment method can be used for multiple applications.

Damp-proof treatments through the use of chemicals- In this process, some chemicals which are rich in water-proofing properties are used. These chemicals are injected into the walls under pressure. For this treatment, some holes are drilled into the walls at some specific points as per requirement of the particular property. The chemicals are injected into these holes so as to form a barrier for the rising damp at various places in the walls. This mode of damp-proofing is suitable for almost all types of walls.

Damp-proofing through electro osmotic treatment- It is a mode of treatment for rising damp which employs electrical current. In this process, a very small current is introduced into the wall slightly above the ground level. It helps in pushing down the moisture in the wall so as to keep it dry. In other words, rising damp is prevented to get up the walls with the help of electrical current in this method.

Following treatment of rising damp through all these methods, the plasterwork on the walls which has been destroyed by the moisture should be removed and replaced with salt impeding plaster so as to ensure that the walls may not absorb moisture due to presence of salt on them.
